Streaming For The New Year

After two labor strikes and a deadly pandemic, Hollywood seems to be back in full swing. (You can tell by the number of Black-centric shows that were recently canceled) One inkling was the number of trailers released this weekend for a variety of titles. From the highly anticipated to the nearly forgotten, 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for TV.

Return of the Dragons

Nobody wins when the family feuds. And the blood shed in the season one finale of HBO’s House of the Dragon only leads to more as the Targaryens’ civil war begins. House of the Dragon returns for its second season Summer 2024.

Prime Video’s Fallout Implodes April 12

I’m not a huge fan of role-playing games, so Bethesda’s Fallout never caught my interest. But Prime’s adaptation from the minds of HBO’s Westworld looks pretty damn impressive in its first teaser trailer. Press play April 12, 2024.

The Other Election 2024

We caught glimpses of The Boys in the crazy co-ed capers of Gen V. Homelander knighted the new Guardians of Godolkin, Senator Newman met her supe mentee, and Butcher visited “the Woods.” Now set for its official return, the fourth season teaser previews an America divided between team Starlight and team Homelander. Who will survive Vought’s America?

Combat Evolved

While die-hard gamers soured at the narrative changes to Paramount Plus’s version of Halo, I enjoyed how the series maintained the essence of the video game. The FPS perspective during battle scenes was perfection, and it seems from this trailer, the second season will embrace more of the evolved combat that made this video game a true classic. Season two of Halo arrives February 8.
